Its exclusive formula has been demonstrated to achieve incredible results on over 1 million clients worldwide – proving effective on all kinds of blemishes and ALL skin phototypes!

Pigmentation concerns are a growing concern among people over 50, affecting more than 90% of the population. This issue is important because of its unattractive appearance and negative psychological and emotional impact on quality of life. Skin hyperpigmentation is an irregular darkening of the skin that occurs when melanocytes—the cells that produce the pigment melanin—begin to overproduce melanin.

If you are ready to reduce pigmentation, restore smoothness and return luminosity to your skin, ask us about the Cosmelan Method in clinic today.

FAQ

What causes hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is a condition that results when there is an abnormal production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colouration. This can cause the affected person to develop dark spots or patches on their skin.

Hyperpigmentation is caused by a variety of factors:

  • Genetic Tendency
  • Sun Exposure
  • Inflammation
  • Hormonal Changes
  • Ageing
  • Exposure to Chemicals
  • Photosensitising medication

What is Cosmelan® and who is it for?
Cosmelan® is a leading professional pigment-removal method, suitable for treatment on all forms of hyperpigmentation. It is used to treat melasma, solar lentigo and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, as well as freckles (ephelides), and can be used on any skin type, including dark or Asian skin tones.

How does Cosmelan® work?
The Cosmelan® contains an exclusive combination of active substances with proven efficacy, which acts on all phases of the pigment production process. This dual corrective and controlling action achieves both short- and long-term results by keeping hyperpigmentation under control. The Cosmelan® totally eliminates existing hyperpigmentation, prevents its reappearance, and stops the appearance of new dark spots.

This dual corrective and controlling action achieves both short- and long-term results by keeping hyperpigmentation under control. The Cosmelan® totally eliminates existing hyperpigmentation, prevents its reappearance, and stops the appearance of new dark spots.

Is Cosmelan suitable for all skin phototypes?
The Cosmelan method has a fast-acting depigmentation and gentle exfoliating effect and can be used on all skin phototypes from dark to fair.

How quickly can results be seen?
In two weeks, results will begin to appear; however, the best results are seen between 30 and 60 days following treatment. We recommend maintenance using a powerful sunscreen, moisturiser, and sessions of our LED PhotoTherapy Pigmentation Protocol provided by Laser ALL.

How long does treatment take?
The LaserALL® Dermal Clinics Cosmelan Pigmentation Program is a 7-10 month commitment to your skin! It starts with 4 weeks of skin at-home preparation, followed by the in-clinic application of the Cosmelan Mask (Peel) – which is a fast and effective 30 minute treatment. This is left on the skin for the required time (8-12 hours, as per skin phototype and instructed by your expert dermal technician) and removed at home. The remaining 6 months of your program is completed mostly within the comfort of your own home – with the exception of your LED Light Therapy treatment and any additional treatments you elect to have.

How many treatments are required?
Only one round of the Cosmelan Pigmentation Program is required to see dramatic results in the reduction of unwanted pigmentation. Depending on the severity or underlying cause of pigmentation, further treatments can be performed 6-monthly to manage recurrence.

Can the Cosmelan be applied to the body?
No, Cosmelan should only be used to treat the facial area.

What are the pre and post care instructions?
Clients of our Cosmelan Pigmentation Program will be provided with detailed and step-by-step instructions on the pre- and post-care requirements and supported by our Dermal Technician’s expert guidance to achieve the best possible results.

Are there any aftercare products that should be avoided, and is it safe to use other products at any point during the treatment?
It is important that patients avoid any products containing Vitamin C or retinols during the course of treatment. These ingredients may be too stimulating for the skin, and they could cause a reaction.

In the first month of treatment, the skin will be particularly sensitive, so we recommend limiting use of the prescribed Cosmelan Treatment products recommended by our team. After that, once irritation has subsided, you might introduce booster products into your routine.

Can the treatment be performed concurrently with any other treatments?
During the Cosmelan® treatment, do not undertake any other invasive skin procedures. We highly recommend sessions of LED Phototherapy throughout to boost results and maintain your pigmentation-free appearance. Facials that are not exfoliating or abrasive help with dryness in the early stages.

How long until I can have injectables after my Cosmelan treatment?
You can commence cosmetic injectable treatments in the face area three (3) months post your in-clinic Cosmelan Mask (Peel).

Does Cosmelan treatment hurt?
Of course, pain is subjective, but our clients report that their Cosmelan treatments are very comfortable, with minimal pain. Discomfort may include warmth, redness, and itchiness.

What’s the downtime of Cosmelan?
The average downtime of Cosmelan treatment is 7 – 10 days. This downtime may include dryness, redness, shedding, or swelling.

Who isn’t suitable for Cosmelan?
We don’t perform Cosmelan on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

I’ve got hormonal pigmentation (melasma). Can I have Cosmelan?
Yes! One of the main reasons we have introduced the Cosmelan treatment to our clinic is for stubborn, hormonal melasma.

Why is this treatment preferred over other treatments for hyperpigmentation, such as laser?
Laser treatment is a commonly used, highly effective treatment for hyperpigmentation. It is particularly effective for low and medium phototype skins (phototype 1-3) where hyperpigmentation is more visible on the skin surface. However, in higher phototypes (phototype 4-6), the laser is less effective and the likelihood of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is higher. The Cosmelan® method is better tolerated and has a lower risk of recurrence, accompanied by a longer-lasting result.

What are the Contraindications for Cosmelan?
