Skin Needling Sydney
Neopen® aka Microneedling / CIT / Mesotherapy
A revolutionary skin rejuvenation treatment, microneedling by NeoPen, is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy that can dramatically improve the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and stretch marks with little downtime.
Good things can come in small packages. NeoPen® smoothes, improves collagen matrix and reveals a healthy skin that glows from within.
The treatment is fast and minimally invasive, with new collagen and elastin production beginning almost immediately.
Science behind Microneedling.
Microneedling is a safe, minimally invasive procedure that allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating precise micro injuries in the skin.
LaserALL® utilises the FDA and TGA cleared NeoPen® device in its microneedling treatment. The device uses straight needles that penetrate the skin at a 90-degree angle and is gently pressed against the skin.
Micro needling stimulates your skin’s natural healing process, inducing the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. There is no tissue destruction with micro needling. The small channels in the epidermis close very quickly, and the skin begins a healing response of producing new collagen and elastin right away.
How does microneedling work?
There are three phases to the wound-repair/healing process:
- Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
- Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
- Phase III: Remodelling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

All skin types 1 – 6
- Avoid excessive sun exposure two weeks before and after your NeoPen® treatment.
- Cosmetic Injecting clients should leave two weeks between their last cosmetic injecting treatment and NeoPen®.
- We recommend applying a topical numbing cream 15 – 20 minutes prior to your treatment to make it more comfortable, which can be purchased in clinic or from your local pharmacy.
- Take any antiviral medication 24hrs prior to procedure to prevent breakouts.
Day of Treatment
- Apply sunscreen in the morning before leaving your home to prevent your skin becoming sensitised.
- Have a glass of water when you wake up to ensure you are hydrated.
- Avoid smoking and coffee prior to procedure as this can cause sensitivity and dry your skin.
- Do something relaxing that will help you to arrive in a calm state. This will make your needling procedure more enjoyable.
The Treatment
- This is followed by;
- stinging or tingling
As the pen is moved across your skin some area will sting or tingle more than others, such as the forehead, chin, around the mouth. Most people find the cheeks least sensitive. - Itching
Your skin may itch during your procedure, which is normal. An itch is a nervous system response to a stimulus. - Heat or cool
During the needling procedure, you may feel warming or cooling of the skin. The skin will respond to its ‘injury’ by sending blood and other cells to the area, causing redness and heat. - Tight skin
Hot and tight is entirely normal, however, and will resolve within 24-48 hours. - A mask or moisturiser and sunscreen is then applied which will assist with any redness and tightness/dryness.
- First 24 hours: Avoid touching the area or applying any products onto the skin (Except Total Recovery Gel/Cream) for 24 hours to prevent infection.
- After 24 hours: After 24 hours, we recommend applying the post Procedure Mask followed by Total Recovery Gel/Cream which should be applied for the next 5 days to help support the remodelling of the skin. We recommend that you avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure for 72 hours post-NeoPen® procedures. Make-up can be worn the morning after your treatment using mineral based products.
- After 3 – 7 days: You may begin your regular skin care regimen 3-4 days after your NeoPen® procedure, although you should wait a week before you begin any Retinol products. Remember to always wear the supplied 50+ sunscreen.
Post Treatment
We provide an aftercare kit to take home with ever procedure with full post-treatment instructions. The after-care will include the following:
FAQ
What does a microneedling treatment feel like?
Prior to your treatment, our therapist will apply a numbing cream to minimise discomfort. The high-speed motor of the NeoPen device causes needles to penetrate the skin quickly and painlessly.
The sensation is often described as feeling like sandpaper or a cat’s tongue. Scar treatment with microneedling requires deeper penetration into the nerve space, which can be uncomfortable.
After the numbing cream wears off, you will experience some sensitivity and may feel as though you have a sunburn. This typically dissipates within 24 hours.
How many treatments Will I Need?
The number of microneedling sessions required varies from person to person, depending on the health of the skin and desired results. LaserALL® recommends a series of three (3) to six (6) sessions, spaced approximately four (4) weeks apart.
Our skin-care expert will help you develop a personalised treatment plan, along with a maintenance plan to keep your skin looking its best.
How soon will I see improvement?
The healing process begins immediately with a microneedling treatment. You will notice smoother and more radiant skin after one week at LaserALL®. Results are gradual, with incremental improvement with each microneedling session.
What to Expect After Microneedling?
After microneedling, you may appear to have a sunburn on your face. Most of our patients choose to take the day off work and return the following day.
A full recovery from a deeper treatment may take up to a week, during which time you may experience some redness and slight pinprick bleeding. For special events, we recommend planning for 7 days for a complete recovery.
Is Microneedling Safe for Everyone?
Microneedling is a safe and effective procedure for people of all skin types, colours, ages and genders.
Can micro-needling reduce stretch marks on the body?
Yes. Micro-needling effectively helps to build the tissue within the stretch marks though the production of collagen. This builds up the indentation and reduces the colour of the stretch marks, in some cases making them disappear completely.
How long are the micro-needling treatments and what is the downtime?
Total treatment time is 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area and there is little to no downtime. Slight redness and warmth to the skin may be experienced after your session, and dryness can be experienced a few days post-treatment.
How does micro-needling differ from fractional RF?
Both treatments address concerns of loose skin, scars, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars, open pores. However, if you are looking for a more targeted treatment, Fractional RF is best for overall appearance and general redness while Nanopore micro-needling is best for darker skin tones and pigmentation or sun damage. As always we strongly recommend that you take advantage of our free consultations so that our technicians can help you select the best treatment suited to your wants and needs.
Can micro-needling treat the delicate dark circles under the eye?
Yes, our micro-needling devices can treat the eye contour! The result for the eye contour is a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, along with a healthier, tighter-looking appearance.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will depend on your individual requirements and this will be discussed during your initial consultation. Typically, we recommend a treatment course of 3-6 sessions, at monthly intervals.
Is dermal rolling the same micro-needling?
Not really. Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) micro and dermal needling have been nicknamed the ‘saving grace’ for skin rejuvenation, helping to smooth skin texture and target various impurities such as enlarged pores and scarring.
While both treatments are essentially different methods of the same thing, derma-rolling uses a paint-brush-like-tool with a needled drum on end. This tool is manually rolled across the epidermis to help absorb topical serums and stimulate collagen production to strengthen the skin.
Micro-needling is a technical and professional upgrade to the traditional dermal roller. Micro-needling is performed with a handheld device that uses a disposable tip equipped with fine needles and a small motor to precisely penetrate the skin, resulting in a more consistent delivery and enhanced results when compared to derma-rolling.
