The Technical Part
HOW DOES PICOWAY Resolve WORK?
It works by creating tiny open spaces under the skin where new collagen and elastin are built and can transform the skin over time. The specialised handpiece creates a micro-array matrix of laser beams and delivers a uniform energy penetration over the treatment area to achieve consistent and effective results.
PHOTO-ACOUSTIC ENERGY
Picoway® ResolveTM is a Picosecond Holographic Fractional Laser system designed for facial rejuvenation. A Picosecond laser is pulsed at a trillionth of a second and generates photo-acoustic (sound, not heat) energy.
The laser creates injury below the epidermis where collagen Type III and elastin are stimulated with virtually zero heat. Resolve can be used on all skin types even on people prone to melasma (must have correct diagnosis) and other hyper-pigmentation conditions.
HOLOGRAPHIC OPTICS
Picoway® ResolveTM is fractional and ablative.
Normally fractional lasers exert most of their energy (10-70%) on the epidermis before it penetrates into the dermis creating Micro-Thermal Treatment Zones (MTTZs). Resolve is different as the laser is divided into 100,000s of beams and the focal point is in the deep layers of the dermis. The holographic optics generate laser energy at such a fast speed Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) is stimulated acoustically not thermally, focused at a depth under the epidermis. The controlled injury which we will term Micro-Acoustic Treatment Zones (MATZ’s) triggers a process of repair, where new cells are recruited from the undamaged sections to repair the tissue and produce new collagen and elastin.
MICRO-ARRAY MATRIX LASER
The Resolve laser is ‘fractionated’ meaning 100,000’s columns of laser beams instead of 1 laser beam enters the lower skin layers causing less damage to the epidermis (top layer) to induce collagen/elastin regeneration. This is commonly called resurfacing or laser ablation. Healing is reduced to just 2-3 days versus 7-10 days with traditional CO2 lasers. Shorter healing times deliver quicker results.
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) is generally caused by thermal trauma to the skin.
By using less heat than other lasers, Pico Rejuvenation not only reduces the risk of PIH, but can actually be used to treat the effects of PIH caused by an inflammatory disorder or even other laser treatments.
DOWNTIME WITH PICO TREATMENTS
There is very minimal downtime with the Picoway® ResolveTM treatment. Redness and very slight swelling can occur which is the patient outcome that our clinician is aiming for. These symptoms can last up to 36 hours and occasionally the skin may purge or feel itchy in areas following treatment.
WHAT IS THE PRICE?
Resolve $700
Resolve + PicoPigment $1,100
How often should I have treatments?
Treatment protocol is to perform 4 treatments once every month for the full course then a follow up treatment every 6 months as maintenance. Waiting one month between treatments allows your body to construct more collagen and elastin matrix in the lower epidermal and dermal skin layer.
WHAT AFTERCARE SHOULD I DO?
At home aftercare products can be applied to minimise any irritation and mineral based make-up can be applied the following day.
It is also important that sun exposure is avoided for two weeks both before and after your appointment and SPF must be worn between sessions.
Using products that will not inhibit your recovery process is vital to a successful treatment outcome.
